It’s the last day of November and there are now only 22 working days until Christmas is here! Can you believe it?
While we are all scrambling to get our Christmas campaigns out to market, let’s not forget that 2019 is just around the corner and there are some key dates and factors to keep in mind that will affect the delivery of your promotional merchandise campaigns next year.
Here are the important points to consider if you want to deliver successful campaigns in 2019.
LOCAL VS OFF-SHORE
There are advantages and limitations of each method, however, the main point to think about is timing.
If you are looking to source products and branded items locally, you can tend to order what you need and get delivery pretty quickly. But don’t leave it too late to order as stock does run out, especially for large quantities.
For bulk orders and the cost-conscious businesses, off-shore is the cheapest option, but it requires a much longer lead time. For example, if you take delivery via ship freight, it could take a few months, which could really push out your timelines.

THE CHINESE NEW YEAR
It’s a wonderful celebration of the New Year with 2019 being the year of the pig! However, it could cause some delays if you’re ordering from China during this time.
Chinese New Year runs for around 15 days, beginning on the second new moon after the winter solstice and ending on the full moon. This means all of China pretty much shuts down during this period. Therefore, any orders, if not placed in a timely fashion could mean you run the risk of your stock not arriving in time for your campaign.
In 2019, Chinese New Year is only about 9 weeks away!
It will run from Tuesday 5th February 2019 to Tuesday 19th February 2019. With an average lead time of stock being from 9-12 weeks, you better get any orders in quickly!
